Elizabeth's style blends elements of French Impressionism with softer more diffuse strokes, preserving a heightened sense of realism through carefully chosen lighting and perspective. Whereas classical Impressionism creates new hues by the juxtaposition of relatively pure colors, Elizabeth blends colors within a single stroke -- each group of bristles carrying a different color from the palette. The resulting works are crisp and clear, yet subtle, flowing, and romantic. Her choice of subjects are quintessential America, from the fields of bluebonnets that surrounded her as a young girl in Texas, to the streets of historic New England, to the rolling foothills of California. Elizabeth studied art primarily under the direction of Chester Snowden, developing skills in ink drawing, pastels, watercolors, and her preferred media of oil on masonite and photography.
In recent years, Elizabeth has ventured into the realm of modern abstract painting, merging her passion for nature with colors, shapes, and lines removed from concrete elements of the real world. She continues to draw inspiration from the diverse landscapes that surround her, but realizes them in a representation focused on communicating the associated emotion and feeling rather than their physical depiction.
